Mists of Pandaria Trailer Released – Did Blizzard drop the ball?
Blizzard has released the Mists of Pandaria trailer. While the trailer was excellent it hi-lights something that I feel was a huge missed opportunity for Blizzard.
Rift just announced that they were removing faction restrictions so that instead of fight against each other, player will join to fight a common enemy, the rifts and the enemies they spawn. In the Secret World there are 3 factions but are able to fully interact and cooperate in fighting back the demons. The only faction conflict in the Secret World is in dedicated PvP zones.
I have always thought that Blizzard should have made Pandas as a neutral race, playable by all and able to interact with both Horde and Alliance. It would have made more sense to have MoP happen before Cataclysm so that the Pandas could lead the fight in cross-faction raids against Deathwing.
One possibility would be for the Burning Legion to reappear and the Pandas now in the Horde and Alliance leading the combined forces of both factions in the fight.

Having factions for PvP is fine, though ArenaNet has an interesting take with WvWvW. But the literally cataclysmic things going on in Azeroth, Telara, Earth, etc., make factional bickering really silly.
Agreed. Alliance vs. Horde at this point is just… silly, at least, story-wise. It’s solid *game design* (though even there, a third faction and/or neutral faction would have been even *better* game design), and there’s a lot of inertia to it… but yes, I think Blizzard missed a prime opportunity.
